I’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions for your convenience. If you have other questions, feel free to email me at john@johnfoleyphotography.com

Q: What’s included in your wedding photography collections?

A: The JF Wedding Experience includes 6+ hours of coverage, Engagement Session, Online Gallery, Fine Art Wedding Album, Full-resolution Image Files, Print Release, Wedding Slideshow and Timeline/Bridal resources. Highlight Films and Wall Art are also available.

Q: Do you travel?

A: Absolutely! I travel all throughout the Chicago region and will definitely travel outside of IL or even to a destination wedding outside of the country. Just let me know where you plan on getting married and I can send you a custom quote.

Q: Do you provide videography services?

A: Yes. To see examples of my Wedding Highlight Films, click here.

Q: How do you handle someone who is shy in front of the camera?

A: Does anyone really like getting their photo taken? Well, outside of a model, I guess… But seriously, I know exactly where you’re coming from - I myself prefer to be behind the camera. Most people are shy in front of the camera and that’s totally okay. 85% of my shots are photojournalistic in nature. After what I call ‘setting the scene’ (get lighting set up and making sure the environment is clean) I then let REAL moments unfold while capturing everything. Obviously there are times that need me to step in, but I don’t really “pose” and instead, I direct. Also, when it comes to formals, I like to keep everyone moving and laughing - this gets the most natural expressions which result in better photos.

Q: Do you deliver every image you shoot?

A: No, I do not. I eliminate duplicate images, test shots, missed focused shots, shots with bad expressions and other images that may dilute the overall product delivery. For example, because I shoot with low apertures, sometimes I take a few extra shots to make sure I have the perfect focus. I don’t expect you to have the expertise or the time to zoom into each image to select the one with the sharpest focus, so I spend hours doing that on my end. In another example, candid laughs and emotional tears are some of the best images from the day. Unfortunately, they can also yield some unflattering facial expressions. I might snap a few extras of any of these moments to make sure I have a great shot with the ideal expression for the moment. With my expertise of processing hundreds of thousands of images each year, I may eliminate ones that I feel are duplicates and only deliver the best one.

Q: My venue is very dark. How do you handle these situations and can I see samples?

A: I have shot in the darkest of dark chapels and reception halls so no need to worry! If the situation allows, I will set up additional lighting to ensure I get focused pictures. Some chapels do not allow for flash photography; and for that reason, I shoot on camera’s with superb low-light performance and lenses with low apertures

Q: Do you touch up all the images in our wedding gallery?

A: Yes I do. Every image I deliver is post produced with my unique signature style of post-production. This involves color correction, exposure adjustment, selective black and white processing, clarity adjustments, tone-mapping, and other corrections. Many photographers will not post produce any images, or will only post produce “select” images from your wedding. This means that you may have pictures that are too dark, have strange skin tones or other common photography flaws.

Q: Do you have a second shooter?

A: Yes! I typically shoot on my own for about 90% of weddings, but when requested, I do have another photographer that I work with that will second shoot for me.

Q: Do you offer a wedding album? Is it high quality?

A: Yes and absolutely YES! I’m partnered with one of the best photo labs in the country and their fine-art wedding albums are GORGEOUS. The pages are extra thick at 1/16” and lay completely flat so an image can be displayed across the two pages with no loss to quality. A variety of cover options are available including leather, linen, and velvet - all in several different colors. The paper has a Standard Archival Value of 100 years! This album will last a lifetime and will become a family heirloom to be passed down. I have a sample album that you can check out if we meet in person!

Q: Are you available to meet in person?

A: Yes! I’d love to meet you and your fiancé in person. I can go over all of my services, show you a sample album along with some other sample prints, and answer any questions you may have. This is also a great way to get to know each other to make sure we’ll be a good fit :)
